MASON CITY — A Flood Warning is in effect for the Winnebago River from Fertile through Mason City to the Shell Rock River near Rockford.
The National Weather Service says the river was just below the 10 foot flood stage this morning at the Mason City main river gauge. The river was forecast to rise above flood stage this afternoon, with a crest at 11.6 feet early tomorrow afternoon. It will then fall below flood stage early Sunday morning.
At 12 feet, widespread flooding occurs along the river, with some backwater effect possible along Willow Creek between downtown Mason City and the confluence with the Winnebago River.
