Neil Eugene “Red” Bryant, 74, passed away surrounded by loved ones on Tuesday, July 22,
2025 in his Mason City, Iowa home.
A Celebration of Life will be held 2:30 PM Friday, July 25, 2025 at Hogan-Bremer-Moore
Colonial Chapel with Mark Doebel officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.
Visitation will be held on Thursday from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM, July 24, 2025 at Hogan-Bremer-
Moore Colonial Chapel, 126 3rd St NE, Mason City, Iowa.
Neil was born and raised in Mason City, Iowa, to Cecil “Jim” Shultz and Loretta “Pat”
Hohenfield. He graduated from Mason City High School and later from NIACC. After completing
his education, Neil began his lifelong career as a carpenter. He worked for Ken Petersen
Builders and Minnesota Rubber, and later retired from North Iowa Area Community Action in
June 2014. Neil was known for his craftsmanship and keen eye for detail.
On July 5, 1979, Neil married Sue Conrad. The two had been together for years before deciding
it was time to make it official. They spent the rest of their lives happily together, raising a family
and building a life filled with love.
Neil took great pride in being a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. One of his greatest
passions was going fishing. He was always willing to lend a helping hand. Known affectionately
as “Red,” he often served as a go-to Mr. Fix-It for friends and family. He had a sarcastic sense
of humor and could be quite stubborn at times. Before his accident, Neil enjoyed riding
motorcycles. He also loved taking his Ford Galaxie to car shows with his grandchildren. He had
a soft spot for Reese’s peanut butter cups, Christmas sugar cookies, and Kimberly’s famous
lasagna.
Those left to cherish memories of Neil are his wife of over 50 years, Sue; children, Jeff (Rhonda)
Bryant, Kimberly (Benjamin)Gerhardt all from Mason City; grandchildren: Ryan (Rebecca) Bryant
Aaron Bryant, Grace Bryant, Conner Prelip; great grandchildren; Theodore and Eleanor: siblings, Jerry
Bryant, Patty Donisi, Danny Shultz, Laurie (Marty) Cassel and Joe (Jane) Shultz; mother-in-law,
Eleanora Conrad; brother-in-law, Fred Conrad, sister-in-law, Connie (Reggie) Stuhldryer; as well as
many friends and extended family members.
Neil is preceded in death by his parents, numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and his beloved dog
Homer.
