State softball scores/schedule — Newman wins 1A consolation game, West Fork falls in 2A semifinals
FORT DODGE — Newman needed eight innings to beat Wapsie Valley 5-4 in a 1A consolation game at the state softball tournament on Wednesday afternoon, as you heard on 103.7 The Fox. Roz Jasperson was 3-for-4 with an RBI while Avah Hanig was 3-for-4 with a run scored. Newman finishes their season with a record of 25-6.
FORT DODGE — In the Class 2A semifinals yesterday afternoon, Van Meter scored in the bottom of the seventh to beat West Fork 5-4. Brylee Dickman homered for the Warhawks in the loss. West Fork is now 23-7 on the season and will play in the Class 2A Third Place game Friday afternoon at 3:30 against Louisa-Muscatine, who lost to West Lyon in the other 2A semifinal 7-3.
