Public input sessions to be held for proposed Oaks Hotel as part of Clear Lake Surf District project

CLEAR LAKE — There will be two public input sessions held next month about the Oaks Hotel that’s proposed to be part of the Surf District project in Clear Lake.
The city in January entered into a development agreement with White Bear Lake Minnesota-based MarketPointe Incorporated, allowing the company to look into developing a hotel on the former site where the old Hilltop Hotel stood and explore whether the project should proceed.
The city’s director of finance and administrative services Jacob Widman says MarketPointe has completed their feasibility study and have come up with a site concept. He says they are ready to present their findings to the public so feedback can be heard prior to any further council action on the hotel.
Widman says, “They’re going to hold two public input sessions. They’re going to be on August 11th and August 13th. They will both be held at the new Music Experience Center on the top level. They’ll be held at 6:00 PM on both of those days. They will be identical meetings. It will just give the public the opportunity to attend and to see where they’ve come up with a project on that and just get the general public’s input on that.”
Each session will have a short presentation by MarketPointe to be followed by a question and answer session.
