Mason City Police Chief Jeff Brinkley to retire in November

MASON CITY — Mason City’s police chief has announced he will retire later this year.
Jeff Brinkley notified police department personnel and city officials recently of his intent to retire. Brinkley has served in law enforcement for 30 years, serving as a patrol officer for the University of Northern Iowa Department of Public Safety and spent nearly 20 years at the Ames Police Department before coming to Mason City in 2016 following the retirement of then-Chief Mike Lashbrook.
In his retirement letter, Brinkley credits the partnership of the Mayors and City Councils, and members of the City Administration for supporting the work that the police department does each day in the community. Brinkley in a written statement says “that kind of support does not happen everywhere and I have grown to appreciate it during my tenure.”
Brinkley’s retirement is effective on November 14th.
