Mason City woman arrested after high speed chase early Friday morning

MASON CITY — A high speed chase early this morning has resulted in the arrest of a Mason City woman.

A criminal complaint states that shortly before 1:40 this morning, officers attempted to make a traffic stop on a vehicle driven by 38-year-old Shannon Lybarger in the area of 29th Street Southwest and South Washington for an expired registration sticker.

Lybarger is accused of eluding the officers before they made contact. Officers say the vehicle Lybarger was driving reached speeds around 120 miles per hour during the pursuit.

The complaint says Lybarger allegedly told officers when she was arrested that she was eluding them because of outstanding warrants.

Cerro Gordo County jail records show Lybarger has been charged with second or subsequent offense eluding, a Class D felony, as well as operating while intoxicated first offense, driving with a revoked license, operating without a proper registration, failure to provide proof of insurance, and she is being held on a parole violation.

She’s being held on over $6800 bond.
