Probation for Mason City man accused of sexual abuse

MASON CITY — It’s probation for a Mason City man accused of sexual abuse who pleaded guilty to a lesser charge.
18-year-old Trenton Wise was accused of committing a sex act with a child age 13 or younger at a residence in Mason City between May and September of last year. Wise was charged with second-degree sexual abuse, a Class B felony punishable by up to 25 years in prison.
Wise entered into a plea agreement with prosecutors in May, pleading guilty to one count of lascivious acts with a child, a Class C felony.
As part of the agreement, prosecutors recommended a suspended ten year prison sentence and five years probation. District Judge Rustin Davenport agreed with that recommendation during a sentencing hearing held on Monday in Cerro Gordo County District Court.
