16th, 17th Street intersections to be closed as part of US Highway 65 project on Monday

MASON CITY — One of the final phases of the US Highway 65 reconstruction project in southern Mason City will begin on Monday.
The Iowa Department of Transportation says the 16th and 17th Streets South intersections with the highway will be closed to traffic starting on Monday.
Currently, the highway is closed between 10th and 16th Streets with the 16th Street intersection remaining open. On Monday, that will change as the 16th and 17th Street intersections will close. Access to businesses in the Southport shopping center area can be made by using the 15th Street Southwest entrance.
The DOT says the stretch of road between 6th and 19th Streets Southwest is currently closed to through traffic, but the road between 6th and 10th Streets has been opened to local traffic for a few weeks and other sections of the project will open in the coming weeks as the reconstruction continues.
