Lake Mills Schools Accept Formal Resignation of Ahrens

Lake Mills Community School Superintendent Chris Rogne has issued the following statement today:
On Monday, August 11, the Lake Mills Community School Board of Education formally accepted the resignation of Skyler Ahrens. Mr. Ahrens was recently arrested and charged with sexual exploitation of a minor.
Because this is a personnel matter and there is an ongoing police investigation, we cannot share further details at this time. However, police do not believe that any of the alleged criminal activity involved Lake Mills students.
Please know that we are fully cooperating with law enforcement officers in their investigation. Our top priority remains the safety and wellbeing of our students.
We also recognize that this is one of a handful of incidents involving district staff in recent years. In light of that, we are reviewing our policies and protocols to determine if there are additional proactive measures we can implement to further protect our students. We are committed to taking every possible step to prevent misconduct and to ensure swift, decisive action when any concerns arise.
We appreciate our community’s continued trust as we work to uphold a safe and supportive environment for every student at Lake Mills Community School.
