West Hancock to Induct Six into 2025 Athletic Hall of Fame Class; Hold Wrestling Reunion

In just a couple weeks, six new members will be inducted into the West Hancock Athletic Hall of Fame. The inductees include athletes and teams across the history of Britt, Kanawha, and West Hancock athletics.

This years inductees will be recognized during halftime of the August 29th West Hancock home football game verses Garner-Hayfield-Ventura. The game starts at 7pm. Following the game, a semi-formal induction ceremony will be held at the Britt Golf Course. Dinner is provided for a free will donation. After the cost of the meal has been paid for, the rest of the money from the free will donation goes towards the Bob and Linda Sanger Legacy Fund. West Hancock Athletic Hall of Fame Chairman Dan Krull:

The public is invited to attend the ceremony and dinner at the golf course after the football game on the 29th.

The following day, on August 30, there will be a West Hancock wrestling reunion at the high school gym starting at 4pm. Former West Hancock wrestling coaches, wrestlers, mat maids, cheerleaders, parents, fans, anyone else who has ever had anything to do with West Hancock and Britt wrestling are welcome to attend. There will be a program and a meal provided as well. A free will donation for the meal will be accepted and appreciated.

Krull says the reunion will also be used as a fundraiser, with the money raised being used for new wall mats in the wrestling room, which also serves as the Eagles football locker room in the fall. The fundraiser will also help with new signage displaying West Hancock football and wrestling team history and individual accolades.

The West Hancock Hall of Fame, which began in 2022, was originally supposed to start in 2020, but the Covid Pandemic pushed that back by a couple years. The inaugural class in 2022 included 3 groups of inductees: the class of 2020, 2021, and 2022.
