Tornadoes, funnel clouds reported Sunday evening in Winnebago County
FOREST CITY — Tornadoes and funnel clouds spun up in several areas of Winnebago County last night.
The National Weather Service in Des Moines says it happened as storms were right along a warm front, enhancing the low level wind profiles and causing the funnel clouds.
The Weather Service says a trained spotter shared pictures of a tornado in a cornfield about two miles north-northeast of Crystal Lake from about 6:13 PM, with the tornado possibly striking a wind turbine.
Looking ahead, the Storm Prediction Center says there’s a marginal chance of severe weather for all of Iowa today, but the rest of the week’s forecast has mostly clear skies and highs hovering around 80 degrees, dipping down to the lower 70s on Saturday and upper 60s on Sunday.
