Rockford will not field varsity football program this year

ROCKFORD — Rudd-Rockford-Marble Rock school officials have announced that due to low numbers, they will not be fielding a varsity football team this year.
The Warriors have struggled to maintain a varsity football squad since their state championship game appearance in 2018, not fielding a team in 2022 and having to forfeit one game last season due to not having enough players.
Another 8-man team, Dunkerton, has also announced they will not be fielding a varsity football team. That has allowed teams in Districts 2 and 3 an opportunity to easily reschedule games.
Northwood-Kensett announced on Wednesday that instead of playing Dunkerton in their home opener next Friday that District 3 team Cedar Ridge Christian will be their opponent. The Vikings on October 3rd were scheduled to play at Rockford, but now they will travel to Tripoli.
