Filing period for city, school board elections in November opens today

MASON CITY — Today is the first day candidates running for municipal and school board elections can file their nomination papers for this November’s general election.
City candidates need to file their nomination papers in the County Auditor’s office, while school board candidates must file their nomination papers in the office of the School Board Secretary.
For the City of Mason City, the mayor’s office is on the ballot as well as three city council seats with an At-Large seat as well as the Second and Fourth Wards. Mason City also has three park board seats up for grabs.
The City of Clear Lake has the mayor’s position as well as the Second Ward and an At-Large city council seat.
There are three seats available on the Mason City Community School District Board of Directors while there’s two seats on the Clear Lake School Board.
The filing window closes on Thursday, September 18th.
