Hinson holds business roundtable discussion with local business leaders

MASON CITY — North-central Iowa congresswoman Ashley Hinson made several stops in Cerro Gordo County on Tuesday, including holding a roundtable discussion with local business leaders and the US Chamber of Commerce about the “One Big Beautiful Bill” passed by Congress earlier this summer.
Hinson tells Northiowanow.com News that she’s been hearing feedback about the bill, both positive and negative, while visiting with people during the August recess. “I think the most important thing is I’ve been out listening to our small businesses and our big guys, across the board, the whole spectrum, about what the impact will be from the One Big Beautiful Bill. What I heard today is that people really appreciate the tax incentives for child care, for being able to reinvest in their businesses. Maybe some of the uncertainty is a concern for the district, but that’s feedback that I continue to share with my colleagues in Washington and with the administration.”
Hinson says it’s the job of Congress to listen to taxpayers and businesses about what’s important in their district. “There was a lot of conversation for instance around Medicaid. Most of the agreement was, yes, work requirements are important, and we should be having those in place so that people can get the services they need. Again, the concerns about access to rural healthcare, the reasons we included provisions in the bill to support our rural healthcare systems were based on feedback we got as we were traveling the district. I look forward to seeing how those provisions play out and what more we can do to make sure that everything is working right.”
Besides holding the roundtable at Henkel Construction in Mason City, Hinson also made stops at Roots Nutrition Counseling & More and YSS of North Iowa in Mason City, as well as took a tour of Main Street in Clear Lake.
