Mason City man jailed on burglary charge

MASON CITY — A Mason City man is in jail on a burglary charge.
A criminal complaint accuses 26-year-old Dwayne Heard of forcing open a locked door of a home in the 600 block of 3rd Northeast this past Monday morning. The complaint says Heard has a no-contact order with the resident of the home, and while inside, Heard allegedly made contact with the resident.
Heard is also accused of grabbing a knife from the kitchen and stabbing a bed before leaving.
Heard was arrested and charged with second-degree burglary, a Class C felony punishable by up to ten years in prison.
Heard is being held in the Cerro Gordo County Jail on $10,000 cash-only bond. He’s due in court for his preliminary hearing on September 5th.
