Mason City firefighters this weekend to have “Fill the Boot” fundraiser for MDA

MASON CITY — The Mason City Professional Firefighters Association will be out throughout the weekend raising funds for the Muscular Dystrophy Association through their “Fill the Boot” program.

Firefighters from the Mason City Professional Firefighters Local 41 will be taking to the streets, store fronts and other locations with boots in hand, asking pedestrians, motorists, and shoppers to help transform the lives of children and adults living with muscular dystrophy, ALS, and other related neuromuscular diseases.

The event will take place starting late Friday afternoon and going through the evening of Labor Day September 1st. Locations where you might find firefighters collecting donations are: the intersection of 1st Northwest and North Monroe, as well as the frontage roads at Roosevelt Avenue and Village Green Drive by Fleet Farm and Menards when crews are available and not on emergency calls.

Firefighters in Mason City last year raised over $14,000 through this fundraiser.
