Cedar Falls man pleads not guilty to Cerro Gordo Count sexual abuse charge, now charged with tampering with reporting party

MASON CITY — A Cedar Falls man accused of committing multiple acts of child sexual abuse in Cerro Gordo County over a decade ago has pleaded not guilty, but is facing a new charge with attempting to tampering with a reporting party.
42-year-old Isaia Weber was charged with four counts of second-degree sexual abuse, a Class B felony punishable by up to 25 years on each charge. A criminal complaint filed by Mason City police stated that Weber allegedly committed sexual abuse to a child under the age of 13 multiple times between June 2010 and December 2013. Weber filed a written plea of not guilty to those charges on Tuesday in Cerro Gordo County District Court. A trial date was not immediately set.
Court records also show that Weber is now facing one count of tampering with a reporting party, with a criminal complaint stating that Weber conspired with others to have contact with the reporting party and her family, including offering money to drop the charges. The extra charge was filed last week, with Weber due in court for his preliminary hearing this Friday.
Tampering with a reporting party is a Class C felony, punishable by up to ten years in prison.
