Garner-Hayfield-Ventura, Iowa Falls-Alden win team titles at Newman Cross Country Invitational

MASON CITY — The Garner-Hayfield-Ventura boys and the Iowa Falls-Alden girls took home the team titles from the Newman Invitational cross country meet held on Tuesday on the North Iowa Area Community College campus.
On the girls side, the Cadets edged Waverly-Shell Rock 61 to 62 points to take the team title. Osage was third with 89 points, while host Newman was fourth with 123 points. Osage’s Scarlett Byrnes won the girls race in a time of 19:10.
On the boys side, GHV had 48 team points to take the title, with North Butler finishing second with 95, Iowa Falls-Alden was third with 112, while Newman was fourth with 113. Ezra Almelien of North Butler won the boys race in a time of 17.02.
