Suspended sentence for Mason City man accused of firing shots at Clear Lake home

MASON CITY — It’s a suspended sentence for a Mason City man who was accused of firing shots at an occupied Clear Lake home last year.

33-year-old Dylan Mitchell was charged with two counts of intimidation with a dangerous weapon with the intent to injure or provoke fear, a Class C felony, as well as two counts of first-degree harassment after Clear Lake police stated in a criminal complaint that they had obtained video and physical evidence that Mitchell fired six shots at an occupied home in the 500 block of North Shore Drive on the night of June 27th of last year.

Mitchell entered into a plea agreement with prosecutors in July, pleading guilty to two counts of intimidation with a dangerous weapon, a Class D felony. Prosecutors as part of the agreement recommended consecutive suspended five-year prison terms, a recommendation that District Judge Rustin Davenport agreed with when sentencing Mitchell on Tuesday in Cerro Gordo County District Court.
