AMES — The Mason City High boys golf team finished seventh out of 12 teams at the Ankeny Boys Golf Invite on Wednesday at the Otter Creek Golf Course.
Valley of West Des Moines won the team title with a 279. Dallas Center-Grimes, West Des Moines Dowling and Southeast Polk all followed with scores of 294, 294 and 295. Mason City as a team carded a 313.
Valley’s top two golfers topped the medalist competition, with seniors Braeden Nelson firing an eight-under 63 and Caden Norris had a four-under 67.
Nathan Berkley had the best Riverhawks finish, tying for 10th with a two-over 73.
Mason City is off until next Thursday when they travel to the Gates Park Golf Course in Waterloo for an Iowa Alliance Conference triangular with Waterloo East and Des Moines Roosevelt.
