Dollis “Dollie” Irene Olson, 91, Clear Lake

Clear Lake- Dollis “Dollie” Irene Olson 91, died Thursday September 4, 2025, at her home.

A visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m., on Friday, September 12, 2025, at Ward Van Slyke
Colonial Chapel, 310 First Ave. North, Clear Lake, Iowa 50428.

A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, September 13, 2025, at Ward Van Slyke
Colonial Chapel, 310 First Ave. North, Clear Lake, Iowa, with Pastor Will Hunsaker officiating.
Burial will follow at The Madison Township Cemetery, Forest City, Iowa. Memorials may be
directed to St. Croix Hospice in Dolly’s memory.

Dollis Irene “Dollie” Babcock was born on December 24, 1933, in Wells, Minnesota, the daughter
of Willis and Elna Babcock. She graduated from high school in Kiester, Minnesota.

In 1950, Dollie met Carl Olson, and their first date was at the Kiester carnival. On October 28,
1951, they were united in marriage; together, they were blessed with four sons. Dollie devoted her
early years to raising her boys and later worked for Houck Pharmacy as an assistant and clerk for
nearly 30 years.

Dollie had a lifelong love of carnivals, especially riding the Ferris-wheel and she cherished her visits
to Clear Lake 4 th of July Carnival. She enjoyed cooking and baking, especially with her grandchildren,
and treasured the time spent with her family. Some of her happiest memories were made on fishing
trips with Carl and their sons to Minnesota and Wisconsin.

She was also a proud member of T.O.P.S. for over 50 years, serving faithfully as the group’s weight
recorder.

Dollie is survived by her husband Carl Olson; sons, Randy (Jo) Olson, Ronald (Darla) Olson;
daughter-in-law, Sandy Olson; grandchildren, Jason (Han), Laura, Tara, Carter (Sarah), Marcus
(Erin), Mia, Abbie (Josh) and Jon; 9 great-grandchildren; along with her sister, Mavis (Kenneth)
Christenson.

Dollie is preceded in death by her infant son, Ronald W. Olson, son, Rodney Olson, granddaughter,
Myra; siblings Dwayne and Jimmy Babcock, Mary Showalter and Carolee Goette.
