Hinson receives endorsement of Trump in US Senate bid

WASHINGTON — North-central Iowa congresswoman Ashley Hinson has received the endorsement of President Trump heading into her second week of her campaign for the United States Senate.

Trump posted a message on social media on Friday night, calling Hinson a wonderful person who has always delivered for Iowa and will continue doing so in the US Senate.

Hinson, a Republican from Marion, has been a member of the US House since 2021, with her current district including Cerro Gordo, Worth, Mitchell, Floyd and Butler counties in north-central Iowa. She announced her bid for the US Senate just a few hours after Republican Joni Ernst last Tuesday released a video saying she would not seek reelection.

US Senate Majority Leader John Thune, the top Republican in the Senate, also endorsed Hinson on Friday.
