Missing Mason City woman found dead

MASON CITY — A Mason City woman reported missing over the weekend has been found dead.

The Mason City Police Department says at about 7:12 on Tuesday morning, they were notified of an unresponsive female who was found in a storage unit. Officers and emergency medical personnel responded and found 34-year-old Kaylin Ingersoll dead. Ingersoll had previously been reported missing to Mason City police on Friday.

Captain Mike McKelvey says a death investigation is underway and that police will await medical findings and results from the State Medical Examiner’s Office in the coming weeks, but based on the information available to investigators at this time, no foul play is suspected.

McKelvey says Ingersoll’s family thanks the public for their support and their efforts to help find her.

The case is still being investigated with the assistance of the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation. If anyone has any information, they are asked to contact Lt. Brett Hollander at 641-494-3564.
