Webster City man dead after fatal accident in Wright County

CLARION — A Webster City man is dead after a fatal single-vehicle accident south of Clarion in Wright County.
The Iowa State Patrol says the accident happened at about 7:20 Sunday evening on County Road R-38 eight miles south of Clarion. A vehicle was traveling southbound when the passenger side of the vehicle dropped off the edge of the roadway.
The driver of the vehicle, 24-year-old Josue Castanon Coronado, whose hometown was not listed, overcorrected, causing a loss of control of the vehicle, which struck a utility pole and entered a corn field. Upon coming to rest, the vehicle caught fire. All three occupants of the vehicle were not seatbelted and were ejected from the vehicle.
36-year-old Michael Mendez Mendez of Webster City died as a result of the accident. The driver as well as 20-year-old Antoni Castanon Coronado were injured in the accident.
