Hampton man originally charged with attempted murder sentenced to five years in prison

HAMPTON — A Hampton man originally charged with attempted murder has been sentenced to five years in prison on a lesser charge.

22-year-old Isidoro Moreno Montalvo was arrested after a stabbing back on May 24th. Officers were dispatched to the 700 block of 8th Southwest in Hampton where they found one male victim with multiple stab wounds. The victim was taken to Franklin General Hospital and then air lifted to Mercy North Iowa in Mason City for further treatment.

Moreno Montalvo was originally charged with: attempted muder, a Class B felony punishable by up to 25 years in prison; willful injury causing serious injury, a Class C felony punishable by up to 10 years; going armed with intent, a Class D felony; and possession of dangerous weapons while under the influence, a serious misdemeanor.

As part of a plea agreement with prosecutors, Moreno Montalvo pleaded guilty to willful injury causing bodily injury, a Class D felony, and  possession of dangerous weapons while under the influence.

District Judge Gregg Rosenbladt recently sentenced Moreno Montalvo to five years in prison on the going armed with intent charge, and one day in jail on the possession of dangerous weapons charge.
