NIACC golf host Fall Invitational — women place third, men fifth

MASON CITY — The NIACC golf teams hosted their Fall Invitational on Tuesday at Highland Park in Mason City.

The NIACC women had their best round of the fall on Tuesday by shooting a 333, which was good enough for third place in the team standings. Iowa Central was the team champion with 320 while DMACC was second with a 322. Freshman Avery Knutsen led the Trojans with a career-best round 80, placing fifth in the medalist competition. The NIACC women return to action a week from today at the Simpson College Invitational in Indianola.

On the men’s side, NIACC placed fifth as a team, tying with the Iowa Central B squad with a score of 286. Southwestern was the team champion with a 272, Northeast Community College and the Iowa Central A squad tied for second with rounds of 275. Freshman Heath Voigt led NIACC with a 69, which tied for ninth in the medalist competition. The NIACC men are off until they participate in the Buena Vista University Fall Invitational in Storm Lake on September 20th and 21st.
