Clear Lake Fire Department holds annual 9/11 ceremony this evening

CLEAR LAKE — The Clear Lake Fire Department will be holding their annual “Never Forget” ceremony commemorating the anniversary of the 9/11 attacks this evening outside the Clear Lake Fire Station at the piece of steel from the World Trade Center.

Fire Chief Doug Meyers says the guest speaker will be Clear Lake native Bill Lyons, who currently is a government contractor after serving 30 years in the United States Air Force, including flying more than 300 combat hours in Operations Desert Shield and Desert Storm.  “He’s a retired United States Air Force major who flew F-16s in the Gulf. He will bring a rather personal account of his time in the military during and following the terrorist attacks.”

Events get underway at 6 o’clock. Following the ceremony, there will be a lighted procession of emergency vehicles around the lake.
