Clear Lake’s city administrator talks about first few months on the job

CLEAR LAKE — Clear Lake’s new city administrator says he’s settling into his job.

Steve Diers was selected back in May to fill the position after being Charles City’s city administrator since 2014. Diers started his new job in July and he says it was a very attractive position to apply for. “Clear Lake is such a beautiful and unique community, it really is, and being just down the road in Charles City, it’s a place that my family and I would come to visit for various events, the kite festival in particular. I’ve just always really enjoyed visiting the community and like what it had to offer, and when the opportunity came up for city administrator, I couldn’t help but apply, and I’ve been really happy with that decision.”

Diers says among his long-term goals is to see a continued streak of success for the community. “There’s so many great things happening in the community, and we’ve really fostered an environment to encourage entrepreneurship and people to try things. Just with everything the community has to offer with the lake, the Surf, the Interstate 35 corridor, there’s so many beautiful things that are attractive to this community for various reasons, so I just want to help expound on that success.”

Diers made his comments during the “Ask the Mayor” podcast that was published on Wednesday at this link.
