Ernst calls on Iowans to remember those who lost their lives on 9/11

WASHINGTON — Senator Joni Ernst is calling on all Iowans to never forget the Americans who lost their lives as a result of the 9/11 attacks 24 years ago.

In a video message released earlier today, Ernst says,  “September 11, 2001, was full of uncertainty and devastation, but America responded with strength and resilience. The American spirit was tested, but the world saw it emerge stronger than ever. Today, we remember how, in the face of horror, America came together. Firefighters, police officers, EMTs, and medical professionals ran toward danger and jumped to action to save their fellow citizens.”

Ernst asks Iowans to join her in taking the time to honor those lives that were lost on 9/11 and thank the men and women who wear our nation’s uniform to safeguard our freedoms. “This day reminds me of the 20 years of countless men and women in uniform, including the 150 Iowa Army National Guard soldiers that I led into Operation Iraqi Freedom, who took up the call to serve their country, fight the terrorists, and prevent another attack on our homeland. Years later, I reaffirm our commitment to never forget.”

Ernst was a combat veteran of the Global War on Terrorism. She recently announced she would not seek a third term for the US Senate.
