Charles City man pleads not guilty to continuous child sexual abuse

CHARLES CITY — A Charles City man has pleaded not guilty to child sexual abuse.
34-year-old Dakota Janssen is accused of committing sexual abuse with a child between November 2018 and July of this year. A criminal complaint states that Janssen allegedly committed at least three acts of sexual abuse with at least 30 days having elapsed between the first and last acts of sexual abuse.
Janssen was due in court for his arraignment hearing on Monday, but court records show he filed a written plea of not guilty on Friday in Floyd County District Court to the charge of second-degree sexual abuse by continuous abuse of a child, a Class B felony punishable by up to 25 years in prison.
His trial has been scheduled for December 9th.
