Clear Lake council to consider preliminary plat, proposed development agreement for housing project

CLEAR LAKE — The Clear Lake City Council tonight will consider a preliminary plat and a proposed development agreement for a housing project.

Lakeside Acres would create 17 lots on land located west of South 8th Street and south of 15th Avenue South. A draft development agreement between the city and the developer of Lakeside Acres would establish city incentives associated with the project, including the city reimbursing the cost of pipe and related materials in an amount not to exceed $150,000, as well as accepting the lift station will need to be installed for sanitary sewer along with base operation and maintenance costs.

City Administrator Steve Diers in a memo to the council says the city anticipates the lift station being a somewhat temporary solution as long term plans have the city making improvements to the city sanitary sewer in that area which will result in elevation changes and make the lift station unnecessary in the future with it becoming a gravity fed solution. A short-term rental prohibition is also included in the agreement.

The Clear Lake City Council meets tonight at 5:30 at City Hall.
