High school roundup from Monday September 15th

SHEFFIELD — The West Fork boys won their own West Fork Invitational cross country meet yesterday at Ridge Stone Golf Club in Sheffield, while Belmond-Klemme took home the girls title. The West Fork boys had all five of their scoring runners place in the top nine, finishing with 23 points. Belmond-Klemme was second with 51, Clear Lake Classical was third with 67, and North Butler was fourth with 95. Nolan Muhlenbruch of Belmond-Klemme won the boys race in a time of 19:15. Belmond-Klemme won the girls title with 24 points with West Fork the only other school having a full squad, placing second with 31 points. Lila Swenson of Belmond-Klemme won the girls race in 21:56. AMES — The Mason City High boys golf team placed 14th at the 18-team boys fall golf outing in Ames on Monday. Dallas Center-Grimes won the tournament with a 296. The Riverhawks were 55 shots back with a 351. Michael Solberg-Maas had the best score for Mason City, placing 17th with a 78. Next up for Mason City is a trip to the Marshalltown Joe August Invite on Thursday.
