Thursday September 18th Cross Country Roundup — Clear Lake girls second, boys fourth in their own invite; MCHS runs at Cedar Falls

CLEAR LAKE — The Humboldt girls and Ames boys won the team titles at the Clear Lake Cross Country Invitational Thursday at the Veterans Memorial Golf Course.

== On the girls side, Humboldt won the team title with a 58, Clear Lake and Ames finished with 72 points, with the Lions winning the tiebreaker to finish second. Newman was fourth with 150. Avery Fisher of Humboldt won the girls race in a time of 19:42, with Clear Lake’s Saylor Schmitt being the runner-up in 19:58

== On the boys side, Ames won the team title with 52 points, Lake Mills was second with 60, Garner-Hayfield-Ventura was third with 89, and Clear Lake was fourth with 98. Lake Mills seniors Hayden Thompson and Knute Rogne finished first and second with times of 16:26 and 16:29. John Amos had Clear Lake’s best finish with a time of 17:35, good enough for fifth place.

CEDAR FALLS — The Mason City High girls finished fourth while the boys finished 12 at the Rich Engel Cross Country Classic in Cedar Falls on Thursday. The Mason City girls placed fourth with 93 points. Dubuque Senior won the team title with 32 points, placing five in the top ten. Brogan Evans had Mason City’s best finish, placing 4th in a time of 20:06. The Riverhawk boys placed 12th with 352 points. Bettendorf won the title with 60 points. Henry Hansen had Mason City’s best finish, placing 9th in a time of 16:44. See the full results here
