Federal indictments for several men accused of robbing Mason City gun shop

MASON CITY — A number of individuals connected to a break-in at a Mason City gun store earlier this year have been indicted on federal charges.
Mason City police in the early morning hours of June 6th responded to a burglar alarm at Hart Brothers at 613 South Federal, where they found the front door open and a smashed display case with several missing weapons. As part of their investigation, search warrants were obtained for four Mason City residences and two vehicles, with seven handguns being recovered, six of which were stolen in the burglary.
18-year-old LaDanian Pannhoff, 19-year-old Parker Thompson, and 19-year-old Dayce Nixon all of Mason City were charged with trafficking stolen weapons and other charges connected to the break-in.
In another portion of the investigation, Waterloo police say their Violent Crime Apprehensions Team searched two homes and seized at least four guns. Court records state that during the searches that two handguns, a pistol and a rifle connected to the Hart Brothers burglary were discovered. Arrested were 32-year-old Tanzell Washington, 19-year-old Kamarius Seward, and a 17-year-old.
Pannhoff has now been federally indicted on charges of theft of firearms from a licensee and possession of a stolen firearm. Thompson and Seward have been indicted on federal possession of a stolen firearm charges. Washington has been indicted on a federal possession of a firearm by a felon charge.
State-level charges in this case have been dropped against Pannhoff, Thompson, Seward and Washington due to the federal indictments.
Pannhoff is scheduled to be tried in Cerro Gordo County District Court on October 28th in a separate case which he is accused of shooting an 18-year-old back in April in East Park.
