A criminal complaint filed in Winnebago County District Court accuses 18-year-old Owen Flatness of second-degree sexual abuse, a Class B felony punishable by up to 25 years in prison.
The complaint states that on August 17th, the Lake Mills Police Department took a complaint of a sexual assault of a 12-year-old, who was later interviewed at the Allen Child Protection Center in Waterloo. The complaint says when interviewed, Flatness admitted to committing the alleged abuse.
Flatness was due in court for his arraignment hearing on Tuesday, but filed a written plea of not guilty. His trial is scheduled to start on November 5th in Winnebago County District Court.
