NIACC roundup from Wednesday September 24 — volleyball team swept by #9 Iowa Central, soccer teams shut out Northwest Iowa

MASON CITY — The NIACC volleyball team was swept by 9th-ranked Iowa Central at home last night, three sets to nothing. Iowa Central won 25-21, 25-21, 25-16. NIACC was led by sophomore Megan Tobin who had 13 kills, four digs and two blocks. Kenedee Frayne had 22 assists, five digs and one ace serve. NIACC drops to 9-10 overall and 1-4 in the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference. They’ll host Marshalltown for a conference match on Tuesday.
MASON CITY — The NIACC men’s soccer team shut out Northwest Iowa Community College on Wednesday afternoon 2-0 on the NIACC campus. Ibrahim Khalil Ibrahim and Bruno Ortega scored in the first half for the Trojans, who improve to 6-2-1 overall and 1-1 in the conference. NIACC also won the women’s match 4-0. Aryana Rashidi scored in the first half for the Trojans while scoring in the second half were Louis Valdal, Emmalyse Bordignon and Kyla Oppold. Both NIACC teams will host Central Community College-Columbus of Nebraska on Saturday.
