NIACC roundup from Sunday September 28 — Golf at Waldorf Fall Invite, women’s soccer beats Central CC of Columbus

ALBERT LEA — NIACC freshman Audrey Overgaard tied for second in the individual women’s competition Sunday at the Waldorf University Fall Golf Invitational held at the Wedgewood Cove Golf Club in Albert Lea. Overgaard was among three golfers who were one shot back of DMACC’s Hannah Kenkel for the medalist honors. NIACC as a team finished fourth with a score of 354. DMACC was the team champion with a 321. On the men’s side, the NIACC B squad was sixth with a 315 and the Trojan C team was seventh with a 317. Host Waldorf University and the Viterbo B squad tied for first with a score of 297. Ian Roske led the Trojan B team with a round of 77, which tied for 15th in the medalist competition. Gavin Anderson led the NIACC C team with a 79. Both NIACC squads play in the Waldorf University Fall Challenge at Rice Lake in Lake Mills today.
MASON CITY — Aryana Rashidi scored with 36 seconds to go to give the NIACC women’s soccer team a 2-1 win over Central Community College of Columbus Nebraska on Sunday in Mason City. After trailing 1-0 at the half, NIACC tied the match at the 51 minute mark on a free kick from Rikke Vestrgard. NIACC improves to 4-3-2 overall and 2-1 in the conference. The NIACC men’s team played to a 1-1 draw against Central Community College. After trailing since the 25th minute, NIACC tied the match in the 73rd minute on an unassisted goal by Harry Twinn. NIACC is now 6-2-2 overall and 1-1-1 in the conference. Both teams travel to Western Iowa Tech in Sioux City on Wednesday.
