CHARLES CITY — A Cherokee man has pleaded not guilty to a sexual abuse charge in Floyd County.
29-year-old Cody Darrell was charged in August with third-degree sexual abuse after being accused of performing a sex act by force or against the will of a minor either on the night of July 4th or morning of July 5th of 2024 in the 1100 block of Hildreth Street in Charles City.
Darrell was due in court for his arraignment hearing today, but he filed a written plea of not guilty on Friday in Floyd County District Court. His trial is scheduled to start on December 9th. If convicted, Darrell could face up to ten years in prison.
