Forest City 3-2 Clear Lake (17-25, 25-22, 25-22, 22-25, 15-13)

ALGONA — Mason City won the girls team title while Forest City took home the boys team title at the Algona Invitational cross country meet on Monday. The Riverhawks girls squad had 44 points, Forest City finished second with 67, while Clear Lake was fourth with 125 points. Brogan Evans of Mason City won the girls race in a time of 19:54. Saylor Schmitt had Clear Lake’s best finish, placing seventh with a time of 21:04. Forest City had a score of 49 to take the boys team title, Clear Lake was second with 84, while Mason City was fifth with 128. Henry Hansen of Mason City won the boys race in a time of 15:53. John Amos had Clear Lake’s best finish, placing sixth in a time of 17:39. See the full results by clicking here

GARNER — Osage won the girls team title and Lake Mills took home the boys team title from the Garner-Hayfield-Ventura Invitational on Monday at the Garner Golf Course. Scarlett Byrnes placed first with a time of 19:05 to lead the Green Devils to the girls team title with 42 points. West Hancock was second with 69, and Riceville was third with 74. On the boys side, Hayden Thompson and Knute Rogne placed first and second with nearly identical times, Thompson 16:36.8 and Rogne 16:37.0, leading Lake Mills to a team title with 33 points. Garner-Hayfield-Ventura was second with 54, while North Butler and West Hancock finished with 102 points, with North Butler claiming third after going to a sixth runner tiebreaker.
