BREAKING — Groundbreaking date set for hotel portion of River City Renaissance project

MASON CITY — After years of waiting, a groundbreaking date has been set for the hotel portion of the River City Renaissance Project.
The City of Mason City announced on Wednesday that the groundbreaking will take place on Thursday, October 16th at 11:30 AM at the site in the eastern portion of the Southbridge Mall parking lot.
The 88-room Home2 Suites by Hilton extended stay hotel will be part of the new Riverwalk District and connect to Music Man Square via the already constructed skywalk.
It will be the first hotel built in downtown Mason City in over 100 years, when the Hanford Hotel, which is now The Manor, was opened in 1922.
The public is invited to attend the groundbreaking.
