Tuesday high school roundup — Newman cross country results, Mason City boys golf second at IAC Super Meet, volleyball scores

JESUP — The Newman cross country team finished 13th on both the boys and girls side of the Jesup Cross Country Invitational on Tuesday. On the boys side, Denver won the team title with 85 points, edging runner-up Oelwein by one point. Newman had 311 points. Newman’s best finish was senior Dan Spooner, who placed 25th in a time of 17:58. Center Point-Ubana won the girls title with 68 points, easily outdistancing second-place Grundy Center, who had 136 points. Newman had 327 points. DES MOINES — Mason City finished second at the Iowa Alliance Conference Varsity Super Golf Meet at Blank Golf Course in Des Moines on Tuesday. Ottumwa won the team title with a 316, while the Riverhawks finished second with a 328. Joe Greazel of Marshalltown was the medalist. Michael Solberg-Maas finished in third place with a four-over 76. Mason City now prepares for the 4A District golf tournament at the Fort Dodge Country Club on Monday.
