MANCHESTER — The Clear Lake boys placed fourth while the Lions girls placed fifth on Tuesday at the West Delaware Cross Country Invitational at the Hart Ridge Golf Course in Manchester. The Lions boys scored 151 points, with Mt. Vernon-Lisbon winning with 19 points as they had all five runners score in the top seven places, including having the three top runners. Gavin Roske had Clear Lake’s best finish in the boys race, placing 17th in a time of 17:26. The Clear Lake girls had 157 team points, with Center Point-Urbana winning with 68 points. DIKE — West Marshall won the girls team title while Grinnell won the boys title at the Dike-New Hartford Invitational at Fox Ridge Golf Course. On the girls side, West Marshall had 90 points, Osage was eighth with 199, and Newman was 13th with 284 points. Scarlett Byrnes of Osage won the girls race in a time of 18:51. Alexis Mujica had Newman’s best time, placing fourth in 19:13. On the boys side, Grinnell won with 50 points, Newman was eighth with 213, Osage was 11th with 317, and Charles City was 13th with 349 points. Nicholas Messersmith of Osage placed 23rd with a time of 17:48, with Elias Carlsson of Newman being 24th a half-second behind, and Dan Spooner of Newman 25th in 17:53. EAGLE GROVE — Forest City won both the team titles at the Dick Bell Cross Country Invitational at the Eagle Grove Country Club on Tuesday. Forest City won the girls title with 48 points, edging Humboldt, who had 51. Belmond-Klemme was ninth with 194, Garner-Hayfield-Ventura was tenth with 198, and West Fork was 11th with 227 points. Avery Fisher of Humboldt won the girls race in a time of 19:53. Forest City cruised to the boys team title with 33 points with Algona placing second with 79. Garner-Hayfield-Ventura was fourth with 107, West Fork was fifth with 140, North Iowa was eighth with 231, Central Springs was tenth with 241, and Belmond-Klemme was 11th with 301.
