FORT DODGE — The Mason City girls finished 13th while the boys finished 20th at the Fort Dodge Cross Country Invitational on Thursday at the Lakeside Golf Course. On the girls side, Waukee Northwest was the team champ with 57 points, Ankeny Centennial was second with 90, while the Riverhawks finished 13th with 383 points. Brogan Evans had Mason City’s best time, placing 27th in a time of 19:30. On the boys side, Indianola won the team title with 92 points, Dallas Center-Grimes was second with 110, while Mason City had 586 points. JEWELL — The Newman boys finished third as a team while the Knights girls placed 7th at the South Hamilton Cross Country Invitational in Jewell on Thursday. On the boys side, Lynnville-Sully won the title with 74 points, Ogden was second with 96, with Newman placing third with 128. Elias Carlsson and Dan Spooner had the best finishes for Newman, placing 12th and 13th with times of 18:11 and 18:17. On the girls side, West Marshall won the team title with 59 points, Madrid was second with 86, while the Knights placed seventh with 166 points.
