Week 7 high school football preview

CLEAR LAKE — Top-ranked Clear Lake hosts Iowa Falls-Alden in a Class 3A District 2 football matchup tonight. The Lions are 6-0 after a 35-7 win over Benton Community last week and face a Cadets squad that after a pair of 2-7 seasons is currently at 3-3.

Clear Lake coach Aaron Stensland says Iowa Falls-Alden is an improved team, led by receiver Cade Olberding.  “They’re making improvements. They’ve got a special player in Olberding who does everything. He’ll come in and be quarterback, he’ll be running back, wide receiver, kick returner, punt returner. I think he had three or four touchdowns last week alone in the Charles City game. So he’s a dynamic player that we’ll have to keep an eye on tonight.”

MASON CITY — Mason City hits the road to face 8th-ranked Decorah in a Class 4A District 2 matchup tonight. The Riverhawks are coming off of a 57-21 homecoming win over Waterloo East and travel to face a Vikings squad that is 5-1 overall after beating Cedar Rapids Washington 53-21 last week.
