NIACC roundup from Wednesday October 15 — volleyball drops match at #2 Kirkwood, men’s soccer falls in home match

CEDAR RAPIDS — The NIACC volleyball team fell to 2nd-ranked Kirkwood in Cedar Rapids last night, 25-9, 25-12, 25-10. For NIACC, sophomore Hannah Brinkman had six kills, one ace serve and one block; sophomore Kenedee Frayne had eight assists and two kills; freshman Kendal VanMinsel had five assists; and freshman Alva Fraenkel had 13 digs. NIACC drops to 12-13 overall and 3-6 in the conference and will play in the Iowa Central Tournament in Fort Dodge on Friday and Saturday.
MASON CITY — The NIACC men’s soccer team dropped a 1-0 decision to Marshalltown Community College on Wednesday afternoon at home. The match was scoreless until the 73rd minute when freshman midfielder Ran Inosake scored. NIACC drops to 6-4-4 overall and 1-3-3 in the conference. They’ll travel to Nebraska on Saturday to face Northeast Community College.
