Thursday October 16th high school roundup — Lake Mills boys, Forest City girls TIC Cross Country Championships; volleyball scores

MASON CITY — Lake Mills won the boys team title while Forest City won the girls team title at the Top of Iowa Conference Cross Country Championships held on the NIACC campus in Mason City on Thursday.

On the boys side, Lake Mills had Knute Rogne and Hayden Thompson cross the finish line at the same time to be the boys race winners in a time of 16:52, giving the Bulldogs 36 team points to take the title. Forest City was second with 66 points, with Garner-Hayfield-Ventura placing third in the 14-team event with 111 points. Newman was sixth with 179.

On the girls side, Forest City had three place in the top nine on their way to winning the team title with 60 points. Osage was second with 81, with Newman third with 126 points. Scarlett Byrnes of Osage won the girls race in a time of 19:53. Alexis Mujica of Newman was the runner-up in 20:14.
