Junior hockey recap — Bulls split weekend series at home, Toros sweep Wilderness

MASON CITY — The North Iowa Bulls split their weekend series with Aberdeen at home. On Friday night, Aberdeen scored four times in the first period on their way to an 8-4 win. On Saturday, Carter Davis scored his third goal of the season in the third period to give the Bulls a 3-2 win. North Iowa is now 6-4-0-1 and will have a home and home series with St. Cloud this weekend with the Bulls hosting Friday night’s contest.
EVELETH, MINNESOTA — The Mason City Toros swept their weekend series in Eveleth Minnesota over the Minnesota Wilderness. On Friday night, the Toros tallied five goals in the third period for a 7-6 win. T. J. Gibson, Stone Resch and Luke Gustafson each had two goals in the contest. Mason City turned around on Saturday and shut out the Wilderness 7-0. Blaze Bauer had a hat trick while Jason Williams added two goals. Logan Nowlin had a 26-save shutout. North Iowa improves to 7-3-2-0 on the season and will hit the road again this weekend when they travel to Alexandria.
