Some downtown roads in Mason City closed for sanitary sewer repair, water main flushing in northwestern part of town

MASON CITY — Some roads near downtown Mason City will be closed this week as part of a sanitary sewer project. The closures will include the North Pennsylvania Avenue between 2nd and 3rd Streets Northeast, including those intersections. The work is anticipated to be completed by the end of the day next Monday. You are asked to avoid those areas and use caution if you must travel near the construction areas.

== The City of Mason City also is advising that water mains will be flushed in the northwestern quadrant of town the next two weeks. That includes all areas west of Federal Avenue and North of State Highway 122 starting today and lasting until October 31st. Water customers may notice some discoloration of the water after the mains have been flushed, however the water is safe to drink. Caution should be used when washing clothing because discolored water may cause staining. The public is being asked not to park near or across from fire hydrants in the northwestern area of town during this time.
