High school football preview — Clear Lake-West Delaware set for #1 vs. #2 clash, first round of playoffs for lower classes

CLEAR LAKE — The top two teams in the Class 3A Ratings Percentage Index clash tonight at Lions Field in Clear Lake as #2 Clear Lake hosts #1 West Delaware. The two teams as well as Solon are the only remaining Class 3A undefeated squads, and tonight’s game will also decide the District 2 champion.
Clear Lake coach Aaron Stensland says West Delaware’s offense will be a challenge to the Lion defense. “West Delaware will present a different type of confusion for us this week. They run a little bit of stuff similar to Webster City with the way they move and spin in the backfield, so we’ve seen something similar, but they kind of do their own thing, so it’s going to take us a little while to adjust. They’ve been able to move the ball on everybody they’ve played this year, so it will be a challenge for sure.”
