Groundbreaking held for Clear Lake Performing Arts Center

CLEAR LAKE — A groundbreaking ceremony was held this morning for the new performing arts center on the Clear Lake High School and Middle School campus.
Initial excavation is already underway in the area behind the high school gymnasium and Athletic & Wellness Center, to the south of the main portion of the high school building, and just east of the middle school.
Superintendent Ian Dye says there is a need to replace the outdated E. B. Stillman Auditorium. “This is going to be a state of the art facility. We are going to have 1000 seats, and if you have been to any of the music concerts in the last couple of weeks that we’ve had here at E.B. Stillman, we need those seats. We are packed. And we need the technology that’s going to join us here in this space, that’s going to be great.”
School board member Talitha Allen says a new performing arts center has been one of her main goals since joining the school board. “We are here today to officially start work on what will be an amazing resource for our students and our entire community. This project represents our shared belief as a school district and a community that the arts are essential to a complete education. We’re building a place where imagination will take center stage. Thanks to your support, this will be a place where dreams take the stage, creativity comes alive, and inspiration echoes for generations.”
Construction is scheduled to be completed in January 2027. You can see a video walkthrough of the center below
